Running into Daddy's arms
At a finish line you run - run into victory. Accomplishment. You can say that you have done it! You have checked running a 5 K off your list. Usually people are clapping and cheering for you once you are finished.
When your mind runs a race what usually happens is that you are bumbarded by a million thoughts and ideas. They continually to take precedent over one another, and that stops you from focusing on one thing. That's what happens when you allow the enemy to besiege your mind. To surround you with thoughts: "I know what's best for you," "you need more money," "make more friends," "work harder," "why aren't you out having fun?" The mind is a powerful weapon that can work against you sometimes, that's only when you invite the enemy into it.
That's like having a tea party and inviting everyone who is a powerful impact in your life to come, but also inviting the one person who causes you negativity. You sit down with this negative person and you allow them to fill your head with thoughts. The enemy says keep sipping on your tea, and let me tell you what you are missing out on. Imagine the tea cup that the enemy hands filled with sin. As you drink sin-filled cup; you allow it to work through you, move through you, and over take you.
When sins begins to linger through our bodies - it then creates negativity, disobedience, anxiety, selfishness, and carelessness. With all these things over taking us, we don't seem to have room for God too. However, he always has room for us.
Romans 5:8 | "But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us."
"God loved us not because we were lovable, but because He is Love. He certainly loved all to the death."
~C S Lewis
1 John 4:8 says " God is love," and we must never forget that. So even when you feel like your head is going to explode with a million and one idols to fill your head, when you are having tea with the enemy, or when you allow the urges of sin to possess your body. God still loves you. That's the best feeling in the world; knowing that while I am still sinning, he will love me.
Remember when you were a kid, when your dad would take you to the park on the weekends. You would go and play on the jungle gym, occasionally looking back at dad so that he can see all of your extraordinary skills. Remember when you tested your own ability, usually that ends up with falling off of something, crying, and running into your daddy's arm for comfort.
Romans 8: 38 - 39 | "For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come , nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God is the Father! His arms are always open even as sinners he is saying "Here I am, daddy is here!" He loves us so much that he looks beyond ours sins and only sees the work of where we are going. God looks at the next step, the ways that we will glorify him from now until he returns. So even when you feel like your mind is running a 5 K to the unknowing, to disobedience, and to selfishness. God sees past it all because nothing will ever separate us from his love. He is standing at the finish line with his arms wide open!
