Cravings.
You know when you get those random cravings for choclate chip cookies, greasy Lay's potato chips, rush of being drunk, dancing the night away, or even the taste of crunchy cucumbers. Those cravings you get and know you won't be satisfied until, you get what you have been longing for. That feeling that nothing is enough until you have it!
I remember 2 years ago when I would sit in class in think to myself how I couldn't wait to get out of this class and get me some cheese pizza. It wasn't me craving the cheese pizza, it was me craving what went along with it everyday, a cold tall glass of wine. Mmmmmh. That craving of sitting on my front porch, being intoxicated while cramming a huge slice of cheese pizza in my mouth. That's what I craved the most. I remember being completely intoxicated by 12:30 in the afternoon. I danced in the wrong playground, let me tell you, not the best decision.
So what happens when you finally satisfy your cravings? Does that mean you are truly satisfied? Are you happy now? Nope. Two things can come from this... You become addicted to cravings or you aren't truly satisfied and you look for something better.
Tell me does this look satisfied or addicted? A picture tells you a thousand words and my picture speaks for itself.
1 John 2:16 | "... For everything in the world - the craving of sinful man, the lust of his eyes, and the boasting of what he has and does - come not from the Father but from the world. "
Now some people think this is a good time, those people are temporarly satisfied. They will constantly be looking for the next best thing. However God does bless those who crave things more then him.
Let me tell how what happens: He gets jealous, he shakes your faith, and he reminds you of him. Sometimes that takes a little shaking or sometimes that takes a big shaking in your life. For me... well I am more of a visual learner so God had to show me what happens when I lust for things other than him.
So ask yourself, what are you craving? Is it God or something else? Is it something leading you to or away from him? Will you be satisfied?
If you continue on in 1 John the next verse in that chapter says:
1 John 2:17 | " The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever."
God is making it your choice, who will you satisfy yourself or him? When you satisfy him, he will bless you plentiful. When you satisfy yourself, then you will be lost and will be longing for something more. You will always look at the glass half full, but with God your cup will run over. He is always be enough. With him, eternal life and love is granted. What more can you ask for?! I don't know whatever it is, he will satisfy!
Psalm 37: 4 | " Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart."
